Start Date: 19 April 2021 Pay: £15.80 per hour PART TIME - 15 to 25 HOURS PER WEEK - PERMANENTALL YEAR ROUND (including school holidays)Proposed salary £15.25 per hour - to start 19 April2021 Delivering services in Maidstone/Swale,Sevenoaks/Dartford or Ashford/Dover This is an opportunity for practitionersexperienced in working with children and young people with sensory impairment,or those with experience in a different area of SEND provision who are willingto undertake a training role, to work as intervenors with deafblind childrenfrom birth to 19 years of age. You will provide short break opportunities forfamilies of children and young people with deafblindness. The focus of the roleis to enhance opportunities in the home and in the community for deafblindchildren and young people to develop independence and to gain support withtheir individual communication modes. During the COVID-19 pandemic theprovision of support in homes would not restart until it is safe. You will support deafblind children and youngpeople to participate in learning opportunities and community activitiesoutside of the regular school hours. The work will be delivered flexibly tomeet the needs of children, young people and their families. A large proportionof the work will be delivered in the late afternoon/early evening alongsidethree MSI Family Fun Days a year taking place on Saturdays or Sundays.The ability to travel independently to meet therequirements of the service is essential. This role will be offered as one post of 25 hoursor two posts of 15 hours each. We alsooffer advice and training for pre-schools, mainstream schools and academies onhow to meet the needs of children with SEND. The STLS Sensory Service teamdelivers sensory support across the county and operates from 14 differentbases. Our specialist teachers are experienced teacherswith a qualification in one or more areas of SEND. They work alongside otherprofessionals in providing effective and co-ordinated support. Our aim as ateam is that children and young people with Special Educational Needs can havetheir learning, physical, social and emotional needs met, so that they can befully included at school and make good educational progress. Our School and all its personnel are committed tosafeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children.
