Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role holder will be key in controlling, transferring and reconciling the transnational activity within the organisations accounting and feeder systems.The role holder will be responsible for reconciling bank receipts to invoices, credit card transactions, customer debt accounts and other general ledger balance sheet control accounts.Client DetailsA well established client who have a need to expand their Finance Team and are now seeking an Assistant Accountant.Description

  • Action, investigate and follow up on any customer invoicing disputes or queries that originate from a sales order and/or subsequent receipt
  • Work across departments to ensure that any open orders or payment collection issues are resolved.
  • Handle and process payments from customers for orders being followed-up and flagged as having disputes or discrepancies
  • Daily check the accuracy of the open sales orders transferred to the accounts system.
  • Support other team members in AR or AP with customer collections or Supplier Statement reconciliations.
  • Attend to customer, supplier and internal customer queries.
  • As an equal partner, work continuously with other departments to provide accounting support and strong financial control, supporting other non-accounting staff as circumstances and best practice dictate.
  • Assist to ensure financial systems maintain integrity and that monthly closing reports are accurate and fully reconciled.
  • Assist with any routine tax, VAT and other related issues as and when required.
  • Assist, when appropriate, with banking, petty cash counts and accounting, and other similar routine tasks.
  • Work with the team to ensure timely submission of results / forecasts for all reporting deadlines.
  • Helping out with all tasks in the finance team and other departments if necessary.
Profile
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Keen interest in data and financial reconciliations.
  • Bookkeeper or experienced in accounts and controls.
  • Evidence of high levels of ownership and responsibility.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of computerised accounting systems and principles.
