Job Description

Reed Finance are pleased to be working with our client, a large services business based in South Essex, who are looking for a technically strong and commercially focused accountant to cover maternity leave for 9-12 months.The Senior/Commercial Accountant will report into the CFO, whilst also working closely with Directors across the different divisions within the business, to contribute to business strategy. You will also be external customer facing so being comfortable buildingrelationships will be important.Being a strong leader of people will be another key component to this role, as you will be overseeing a team of 9, who are responsible for turnover/profit reporting across the business.Some key responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to ensure timely and accurate reporting to assist management in making key decisions for the business
  • Oversee preparation of monthly Management Accounts for various contracts across the business, whilst also being ready to support in time of absence or peak activity
  • Liaise with the senior divisional management teams to ensure they have a good appreciation of financial results
  • Overseeing the preparation of annual budgets for the sector and gathering information for the CFO to reforecast periodically
  • To engage in the bid process for new work and bring experience, data and commercial direction to bids being prepared by the bid team
Some key requirements:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Technically strong and commercially minded, with strong communication skills
  • Proven track record of leading high performing teams, and being able to provide support when required
This role is predominantly based out of the Head Office inthe Southend area, and also offers hybrid working. On occasion you will also be required to work from other locations, such as the companys London office and customer sites. The role will last around9-12 months, although may be extended, which will enable a good handover at both ends of the contract.
