An exciting opportunity has arisen at Southend Hospital in the respiratory team. The Respiratory Nursing Team are seeking to expand and recruit our CNS team. We are inviting individuals to apply for this Respiratory CNS post who are highly motivated, dynamic, and have a passion for caring for respiratory patients, including COPS/Asthma and patients with respiratory failure.The role will work within an existing respiratory MDT team on a day to day basis identifying respiratory inpatients including COPD and Asthma patients. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will be expected to support with the COPD/Asthma bundles and manage complex discharges.This role is a highly visible role which will support the ward teams to care for respiratory patients.This exciting role will be based in the acute hospital and will support the management of patients both in hospital and attending the out-patients. It will however maintain close links with the community in order to ensure our integrated pathways for respiratory care are maintained.We invite an RGN with extensive experience in respiratory care including inpateint experience to join our team and push forward our vision for managing COPD patients. Awareness of the current issues in COPD and Asthma management is essential.A comprehensive development program will be put in place to support the new post holder as well as appropriate supervision and training. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will develop consultation and diagnostic skills and eventually non-medical prescribing competence.Our team here prides itself in developing staff and ensuring job satisfaction. Our current Respiratory team is looking forward to working with an individual who puts patients first, who has strong integrity and has a desire to learn more and develop. Key aspects of the role developing the COPD service including out patient clinics as well as direct face to face inpateint care. It will be educating patients and families about their illness and working through self-management plans with them. Strong communication skills will be required.The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the respiratory team on a day to day basis and act as a respiratory resource for ward staff.
