Southbourne ward is a Medical Short Stay Unit, is looking for compassionate and caring Registered Nurses to join their bright and friendly team. This unit is part of the Acute Medical Service and led by Acute PhysiciansIf you are looking for comprehensive experience in acute medicine this is the job for you.The Unit:This acute medical short stay unit provides comprehensive, high quality care to patients with a wide variety of medical conditions who can be treated and discharged within 24 to 72 hours. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment fostering person-centered care to enable patients to reach their optimum level of health and independence. We treat a wide variety of acute medical conditions from across all specialities, including respiratory cardiac and neurological conditions as well as other conditions, which may require careful observation, intravenous drugs or skilled assessment.The unit offers excellent experience in simple and complex discharge and works closely with the Acute Medical Unit, Ambulatory Care, Emergency Department and Frailty Service.There is potential for rotation to the Acute Medical Unit and Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit.Acute Medical Unit is a 24 bed assessment unit that is open 24 hours per day accepting acute medical referrals form GPs and the Emergency Department including cardiology, respiratory, endocrine and gastroenterology.The Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit is a consultant – led service, working alongside other healthcare professionals including Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The Ambulatory Emergency Care Service aims to rapidly investigate and treat patients so they can go home on the same day.We support the development of new roles in the Acute Medical Service including Advanced Nursing Practice and Assistant Practitioners.Southend-On-Sea is an exciting place to live, work and enjoy life. Just under an hour from London and Europe (either by rail or air), Southend and the surrounding area is vibrant and cosmopolitan. Local schools have an excellent reputation and the nearby seaside provides a pleasant backdrop as well as opportunities for fun or relaxation.
