NORTH BRISTOL NHS TRUSTUpper Limb FellowshipWe wish to appoint Senior Fellows for an Upper Limb Fellowship. We have one 6 month hand, wrist and elbow fellowship with Mr Rouin Amirfeyz from February 2021 to August 2021. The appointments are at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, North Bristol NHS Trust and the University of Bristol Hospital Trust. The post holder will be required to work flexibly within and between departments/Trusts.Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery - The post holder will be involved in a busy Hand & Wrist service within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre at North Bristol NHS Trust and University hospital Bristol. The post holder will be responsible to Mr Amirfeyz. They will be expected to have some previous experience in Hand, wrist and elbow surgery. They will be expected to participate in the ongoing research and audit programmes of the department.The postholder should be at the stage of a senior trainee – post exam – or immediate post CSST.Orthopaedic services including elective procedures are provided at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre (AOC) at Southmead Hospital. The AOC provides the main elective orthopaedic service for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and also hosts inpatient surgery for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Healthcare Trust. Five theatres run all day six days a week with 28 consultants operating here. The local catchment population is approximately 500,000 but specialist services are also offered more widely across the region. The upper limb service covers all aspects of upper limb care and accepts tertiary referrals from a wide region. The AOC is a high volume arthroplasty centre undertaking primary and complex revision work. North Bristol Trust is the regional Major Trauma Centre and the fellowship allows exposure to complex acute upper limb trauma as well as late reconstruction for trauma.Candidates must have, or be eligible for, GMC registration that allows them to work in posts that are not recognised for training. If in a training post this post is recognised for off programme training.
