** Previous Applicants need not re-apply**We are looking to appoint a full time, HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist in the Neuropathology Department at Southmead Hospital on a fixed term basis. Applications are invited from enthusiastic, adaptable individuals who would enjoy working as part of a friendly team in this busy department.To provide senior scientific support within the department and to deputise for the Neuropathology Department’s Laboratory Manager if required.As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, to assist with training of the departments scientific, administrative and support staff to meet the standards which have been determined for the clinical pathology accreditation process and by the Institute of Biomedical Science.To participate in the provision of a comprehensive diagnostic neuropathology and muscle pathology service to NBT’s Neurosciences/MSK Division, and to a number of external organisations including other healthcare trusts, and some coronial and criminal investigation services.The post-holder will be expected to rotate through the various sections of the Department (biopsy & autopsy neuro-histology; immunocytochemistry; enzyme histochemistry).The Neuropathology department is located in purpose built laboratories at Southmead Hospital and processes neuropathological specimens from surgical patients or autopsies.
