Job Description

Bristol & Weston NHS Purchasing Consortium provides strategic sourcing services to 3 acute trusts and 2 Community Health providers.With a spend profile of circa £500m, the Consortium is continuing its transformation programme to raise the profile of Procurement, increase savings performance and drive operational excellence.Based at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, you will be part of a team delivering catalogue and order management services. With focus on catalogue-driven transactions, duties include processing of requisitions and purchase orders, dealing with invoice queries, data analysis, and guiding end-users through standard processes.An opportunity exists to join our Major Medical Equipment team as a Purchasing Assistant, the role having three main purposes:

  1. Provision of first line support and advice regarding requisition to pay process. Provide advice and support to clients and suppliers on best procurement practise and process, answering queries directly, engaging with appropriate colleagues or signposting to other persons/departments as appropriate.
  2. Provision of catalogue and order processes. Deliver catalogue and order processing to support best-in-class Sourcing activities and commercial transactions, maximising value-added outputs, with continuous improvement approach.
  3. Provision and support of procurement activities. Perform procurement processes for defined level of spend, provide advice on requisition-to-pay processes to deliver required output of procurement direction/strategy.
A significant focus of this role will be supporting the Major Medical Equipment sourcing team to deliver the end to end procurement for medical equipment and maintenance as required by our clients. This is a busy and varied role with a focus on attention to detail to ensure purchase orders are raised correctly by close management of the sourcing catalogues, ensuring orders are dispatched to suppliers in a timely fashion.The role is stimulating, demanding and rewarding and the successful applicant might use this role to support career progression within the consortium.You will be self-motivated, ambitious and thrive on delivering excellence across the role in our open-plan office in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, working closely with colleagues.You will have demonstrated an ability to provide excellent customer service in a demanding process-driven environment, with very effective communication and analytical skills.For further details or an informal discussion please contact Dawn Williams on dawn.williams@nbt.nhs.uk or telephone
