Job Description

Head of Data & InsightAre you a senior data professional that is looking to establish a brand-new data function Would you be interested in building a lasting legacy for a well-known and well-respected brand If so, please read on…ITP is currently looking to recruit a Head of Data & Insight for a highly successful business based in West Yorkshire. This is a brand-new position created by the CIO to support the business during a period of technological improvement and change. The leadershiphas realised the value in the untapped data within the business, and as such there is a desire to harness and analyse this data to unlock potential revenue and increase margins.The Head of Data & Insight is a critical role responsible for developing and executing a data strategy that aligns with the organisations business goals and objectives. This role will oversee all aspects of data management, governance, and analytics toensure data is leveraged effectively across the organisation to drive business insights, innovation, and growth. The role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve the underlying organisational data capability and understanding, transitioningtowards the use of modern analytical techniques, whilst promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the organisation.What we can offer youWe see this as an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to raise the bar and push their potential.   • Circa £100k basic salary

Key Accountabilities:
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement a strategic vision for data management and analytics that supports the companys objectives and growth.
  • Data Governance: Establish and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Data Architecture: Define and manage the organisations data architecture, including data models, data integration, and the creation of a modern data warehousing solution.
  • Data Analytics: Drive the development and deployment of advanced analytics, machine learning, and data science initiatives to derive actionable insights and inform decision-making.
  • Data Security: Work with the Head of Cyber Security to implement robust data security measures to protect sensitive and confidential data, and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Data Quality Management: Work with data quality leads to develop and maintain data quality frameworks and processes to continuously monitor and improve data accuracy and reliability.
  • Data Technology Stack: Oversee the selection, deployment, and management of data-related technologies and tools, including databases, data lakes, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Technology Horizon: Keep abreast of developments in the data space and to understand how these could benefit the organisation
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with all operating companies and departments to propose and evaluate new insight projects, align data initiatives with business goals and facilitate data sharing (removing data silos) across the organisation.
  • Agile delivery: Democratise data so our analysts and managers can better access, transform and gain insights from the data we provide via self-serve tools and platforms (hub and spoke).
  • Leadership & Management: Direct and manage a high-performing data team, providing mentorship, training, and development opportunities and be the point of reference for data best practice in the business.
  • Data Literacy: Improve the level of literacy across the business through training programmes using a variety of new and traditional methods.
  • Data Ethics: Promote ethical data practices, transparency, and responsible data usage across the organisation.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party data providers and software to optimise data-related partnerships and services.
  • Insight Delivery: Leading all insight projects, including clarity of how it will be embedded in the business, and the experimentation required to demonstrate value.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in data management, analytics, and data governance roles, with a track record of successful leadership and strategy implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of data management best practices, data architecture, and emerging trends in data technology and analytics.
  • Experience with data visualisation, business intelligence, and data science tools.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
  • Experience of cloud technologies, preferably MS Azure
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change as part of an insight driven initiative.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience of owning and managing budgets.
  • Comfortable with providing a vision / direction to the business and the data teams.
  • Commercial acumen and market understanding
  • Great stakeholder management skills (internal and external)
