Job Description

Avenues is a community where people smile, laugh, grow and achieve great things.We are seeking a Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support Lead to work with our Quality Assurance and Practice team, and to work with our operational teams within our South East subsidiary covering services in and around the Kent and Medway area.We are committed to providing high quality support with a growing and renewed emphasis on Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support in order to improve the quality of life of the people we support, and to make Avenues the best place to work for our dedicatedteams.You will be supported by the subsidiary PBS and AS Partner and receive case load supervision from the Senior PBS and AS Partner.This role will be Monday to Friday with good work life balance incl. working from home depending on business needs.Due to the need to travel across different location the successful applicant needs to have a valid driving licence and have access to own transport, a car user allowance and mileage will be paid.Depending on your level of qualifications and experience, we offer a salary starting from £27,000 to £32,000 per annum - we are happy to offer an informal chat and talk through your career to date to establish salary offered if successful!You will …

  • Undertake assessments, including functional assessments and providing guidelines and advice on supporting people with challenging behaviour.
  • Be responsive to service crisis and pro-active in supporting and coaching change.
  • Deliver training in positive behaviour support and person centred active support.
  • Design and implement data recording systems, analysis of data and writing reports demonstrating outcomes.
  • Support the teams to improve quality of life of the people supported through goal setting with a particular focus on skills teaching.
  • Advising on best practice and providing practice leadership and coaching to employees and managers, including providing direct support.
  • Liaising and working in partnership with other professionals and families of the people we support.
  • Maintaining relationships and liaising regularly with the Quality Assurance and Practice Department.
For full details please read role profile.We are investing in your development!You will be supported, depending on your level of qualification, to achieve the diploma in Positive Behaviour Support and Practice Leadership with the British institute of learning disability (Bild).Become trained in the SPELL framework and Person Centred Active Support (PCAS) to train the trainer level, certified with the Tizard centre, part of the University of Kent.You will have the option to attend relevant conferences and seminars such as the Bild PBS conference.What are we looking for
  • Be passionate about delivering positive outcomes for the people we support and other stakeholders.
  • Desirable to have a qualification or substantial training and experience in Positive Behaviour Support and Active Support.
  • Have experience of working in social care, or in a similar setting, working with people with Intellectual disabilities, autism and/or complex needs.
  • Experience of leading and managing a team, providing practice leadership.
  • The ability to communicate confidently and effectively and maintain positive relationships at all levels within the organisation and with external agencies.
  • The knowledge, understanding and commitment to upholding and championing - Human Rights, equal opportunities and diversity.
