Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working with a leadingfire and security solutions provider to assist with their recruitment of a part-timeHSE Manager.The RoleA successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day management of health and safety, reporting to the Managing Director. You will assist with the monitoring of various operations and ensure compliance with current legislation and industry-safe workingpractices. You will promote continuous improvement and be dedicated to improving standards across the organisation. As an ambassador for the organisation, you will promote the company as a leading and respected employer.Responsibilities

  • Constructing and maintaining internal health and safety strategies and policies
  • Investigation and recording of incidents and accidents
  • Constructing and maintaining documented operational practices
  • Organising and delivering relevant health and safety meetings and training courses for employees and others as required
  • Constructing and delivering relevant presentations to groups of employees and management on health and safety-related matters
  • Undertake risk assessments and site inspections regularly to provide evidence of conformance to policy and procedures and to update those practices where relevant
  • Ensure equipment used by our employees is installed correctly and is safe to operate
  • Identify potential hazards and deliver practical solutions to minimise risks
  • Produce and maintain relevant statistical information and reports for management
  • Act as the primary point of contact with all relevant external authorities and other bodies
  • Management of client expectations with regard to our health and safety practices
  • Provide oversight and guidance on the appropriateness of our sub-contracted workforce including ensuring our policy and practice are adopted where relevant and that the sub-contractors are fit for purpose from a health and safety perspective
  • Monitor and report on employee vehicle use utilising the statistics gathered by the company vehicle tracking system. Provide guidance on corrective actions required where appropriate
  • Provide support to the completion of PQQs and other tendering documents from a health and safety perspective
  • Specify, monitor and control the issuance of PPE to employees
Essential Skills and Experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the health and safety industry
  • Health & Safety Diploma (e.g. NVQ level 5, NEBOSH Diploma)
  • Excellent awareness of current health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Sound working knowledge of all Health & Safety legislation with practical experience of HSE law
  • Have a good understanding of ISO’s 45001, 14001 and 9001
  • Strong leadership, man management and communication skills
  • A willingness to work under pressure in a challenging, fast-paced environment
  • Have proven experience in risk assessments, method statements, incident reporting/investigation, safety auditing, COSHH, toolbox talks
  • Computer literacy is essential (knowledge of MS Office) and you must be capable of working on your own initiative
  • A pragmatic approach to risk management
  • Accident and incident investigation knowledge
  • Be flexible, conscious and well-organised
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good report-writing skills
DesirableSkills and Experience
  • Experience in implementing and managing HSE Management Systems
  • 5 years experience in a similar role and within the Fire/Security and/or construction sectors would be advantageous.
