Job Description

Our MedComms agency client is looking for a Senior Medical Writer who produces high quality written materials for various target audiences across a wide range of therapy areas. Acts as lead writer on most projects with minimal coaching/support. Line managesmore junior writers and editors.You need to know:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produces clear, accurate content to the highest scientific and grammatical standards, suitable for the target audience and the communication channel used, on time and on budget
  • Provides clear, effective briefs for peers in Editorial, Creative and Technology teams as well as Freelancers and Translation Agencies
  • Proactively manages and monitors own workload and supports the Editorial Lead in resourcing decisions
  • Develops and maintains relationships with clients regarding project content. Highlights new/repeat business opportunities to Client Services and attends client meetings if required
  • Analyses, interprets, and presents scientific data, and accurately researches and sources relevant materials
  • Critically assesses own work, receives constructive feedback from colleagues and seeks out learning and development opportunities to improve in-role performance
  • Line manages less experienced writers through a development program as detailed in the annual objective setting, ensuring that their work - quantitatively and qualitatively - meets the requirements of the company
Knowledge & Skills
  • Understands the pharmaceutical environment with sufficient insight to place the needs of the client
  • Demonstrates awareness of industry guidelines, ethical and legal issues such as plagiarism and copyright law and best practices. Applies guidelines to work, with ability to teach others
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
  • Understands commercial strategy and how that applies to copy
  • Proficient in use of relevant IT packages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Youll need:
  • A science degree, ideally combined with a science Masters or PhD
  • Significant medical writing experience gained from a medical communications agency or aligned setting
  • 3+ years of medical writing experience in a healthcare communications agency
  • Experience in creating a range of materials across multiple therapy areas
