Job Description

Senior Development Manager required by a leading west London local authority. This role is a permanent full time role, sits within the Council’s Development Team (Economy Directorate) and reports to the Head of Development.Salary circa £66-67k per annum plus excellent benefits – offices located in West LondonThis is a challenging, exciting and rewarding role, which will require excellent ambassadorial, technical, engagement and project management skills and experience, complimented with a ‘can do’ attitude. As a member of the Council’s Development Team and in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders – the main purpose is to implement the Council’s Priorities and Strategic Objectives – by leading on the co-ordination, management and deliveryof various mixed tenure and mixed use regeneration and development schemes across the Borough – from inception through to completion - primarily for the provision of new affordable and sustainable homes, along with reprovision of new community facilities andassets, whilst generating positive income streams, and, meeting the climate emergency.Key skills and attributes required include:

  • Leading, managing, coordinating, implementing and monitoring an ‘integrated team’ on numerous land-led development and regeneration projects and new housing supply opportunities, at various ‘life-cycle’ development stages - to ensure desired strategic objectives,business outcomes, values and returns on investment are realised and achieved.
  • Excellent Programme, budget management, financial/viability modelling and monitoring skills
  • Having sound knowledge and understanding of regeneration and development processes, construction methodologies, legislative requirements (including new sustainable goals) and delivery mechanisms.
  • Procuring, commissioning and managing relevant ‘integrated project teams’, including consultants, proprietary surveys, and, contractors – aligned with project programmes
  • Understanding and managing multi-stakeholder and community relationships whilst promoting a culture of co-production - to help shape services
  • Adapting their communication skills, to respond to the diversity of audience, along with producing appropriate reports, briefings, presentations etc. - to ensure compliance with relevant governance processes and protocols are achieved
Qualifications:
  • Essential: A relevant degree in construction, development or regeneration (e.g. Development, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Construction Technology, Building Surveying etc.), or, equivalent experience and evidence of continuous professionaldevelopment
  • Desirable: Membership of a professional body associated with the construction industry (i.e: RICS, CIOB, RIBA etc).
