Job Description

Biomedical Scientist MicrobiologyWe have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Pathology team based at The London Clinics main hospital in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a competitive salary range on offer. We have approx. 1300 employees across 8 sites, where we cover a broad range of specialisms, including complexmedical and surgical procedures and a comprehensive range of cancer and outpatient services.Job ProfileAs a Biomedical Scientist you will support the seniors and chief BMS in providing an efficient and effective service. To ensure that scientific standards are maintained and that Clinic policies are adhered to at all times.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary: The salary range on offer for this role is £37,959 - £47,648 inclusive per annum.
  • Shifts: We operate a mixed shift pattern, Monday - Saturday (1 in 4 Saturdays).

  • Undertake routine and specialist laboratory techniques in line with department standard operating procedures.
  • Record information on the pathology laboratory information system and ensure it complies with governance requirements at all times.
  • To assess, initiate and monitor appropriate action when a situation may compromise service delivery and to escalate.
  • To be aware of the processes for escalation of laboratory issues.
  • To undertake technical validation and authorisation of results from laboratory investigations as specified by laboratory guidelines and policies.
Skills and Experience
  • Extensive post HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist
  • Experience of UKAS assessments
  • Theoretical knowledge of laboratory Virology and Serology
  • Understanding of Quality Management and its application
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist with evidence of CPD activity
