Job Description

Head ChefAn exciting position has become available for a full time Head Chef to join a friendly team based in West Kirby. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary.The successful candidate will be an addition to an existing team to bring the restaurant forwards by assisting in the creation of menus and driving the importance of customer satisfaction.Role Requirements

  • Previous experience in a chef role is essential
  • High standard of food hygiene and health and safety
  • A passion for producing amazing fresh seasonal local food to a high standard is essential
  • NVQ 2 or Diploma level 2 in catering is a minimum requirement
  • Adaptable - willing to work as part of a team to showcase your talent
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Experience of recruitment and nurturing other team members
  • Experience as a chef in a similar environment
  • Looking for a long-term role
  • Works well with other senior members of staff to maximise profitability of the restaurant and enjoyment of working
    • Role Responsibilities
  • The role involves taking responsibility for the kitchen department, food cost, ordering, food and health and safety. Contribute to the production of food items in accordance to agreed specifications
  • Be knowledgeable of the day’s business, i.e., know what reservations are booked in to the restaurant, be aware of outside events that will impact directly on business, etc.
  • Assist with the recruitment of other members of kitchen team
  • Ensure that all menu dishes are prepared with attention to detail and to the highest standard.
  • Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are prepared to the approved standard of presentation.
  • Avoid unnecessary wastage, to observe proper portion planning and control and to act in a cost effective, responsible manner.
  • Ensure HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
  • Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order and report any maintenance issues.
    • Company Pickled Walnut is a vibrant, neighbourhood bistro/bar, that services the local market of West Kirby whilst attracting visitors from all over the Wirral and beyond. Located at 34-36 Banks Road, Pickled Walnut serves breakfasts, lunches and evening meals all freshly prepared on site, also welcoming guests who would just like to visit the bar, alongside offering a simpler solution to those marine lake walkers who just want coffee and cake after enjoying the fantastic views over to North Wales that West Kirby has to offer.Many people will know of Pickled Walnut having attended a wedding, business lunch, corporate dinner, or private dinner to name but few.
