Job Description

OverviewThis role sits within our Highways maintenance business, who look after all of our National Highways (Highways England) contracts. Specifically, you will partner with the Area 12 contract which covers Yorkshire and Humberside.As our Finance Manager for Area 12, you will be part of the contract Senior Management Team and take responsibility for the management accounts, cost allocation and tracking performance against target. This is a business partnering role in which you willwork closely with the contracts commercial and operational leads, working together to identify and action process and behavioural based improvements which will have a positive impact from a financial perspective.This is a high-profile role which represents an opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to really make their mark, with the support of the wider team.Our Finance and Area 12 teams are based in Tingley and West Cowick, and you will initially split your time on a flexible basis between these locations; but being permanently based in West Cowick in the longer term. Our West Cowick operational base offersfree parking, and you will have access to a company car.What will this role involve

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Taking responsibility for cost allocation on the Area 12 contract
  • Completion of a monthly group reporting pack
  • Preparation of business budgets and forecasts and managing actual performance against the latest budget/ forecast
  • Management of the contract cash forecast
  • Maintenance of a contracts risks and opportunity schedule
  • Responsible for reporting Aged WIP and Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors
  • Responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of contract financial systems and processes and identifying any remedial action
What are we looking for
  • A qualified accountant (preferably CIMA or ACCA)
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar Financial Manger role where you have partnered a business area/s
  • Relevant industry or corporate experience in a large, matrix organisation operation a business partnering/central functions model
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of data using Excel
  • Ideally, experience using SAP
  • Ability to problem solve, identify and lead improvements
  • Experience forming solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong communication skills
