Job Description

Midland Building Products Group is the UK’s leading independent stockist of doors from all major suppliers, and a market leading manufacturer of standard and bespoke fire doors, doorsets and glazed screens.Rapid Fit, part of MBP Group, are seeking an experienced individual to have a proactive and hands on approach to the day -to-day operations of the transport of good across the UK. To coordinate and monitor goods for delivery, plan delivery routes and drivers, and ensure goods are delivered efficiently and on time. Check the status of delivery, and promptly and professional resolve any issues that may arise.This is a full time position for 40 hours a week Monday - Friday.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Liaise with contract managers for delivery information, dates and schedules
  • Produce delivery schedules for the dispatch team
  • Liaise with the production team to establish all planned deliveries are complete in full
  • Confirm with construction site that deliveries can be made
  • Liaise with the MBP distribution team for deliveries to be collected and dispatched from Rapid-fit
  • Liaise with RGF for vehicle hire, and work with the most cost effective way of transportation
  • Sign and prepare delivery notes for dispatch and delivery
  • Conduct a daily delivery audit for all Contract Managers
  • Organise and file delivery notes
  • Prepare a delivery schedule
  • Update and analyse transport costs, using Excel to record and store data
  • Book deliveries on to online systems
  • Administrative tasks associated with transport
  • Be the first port of call to deal with customer delivery concerns
  • Compose list of finished goods with a detailed value
  • Identify process waste and implement improvements
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure competitive distribution costs
  • Any other adhoc duties associated with the role
    • ….and any other duties required to support the achievement of the Company’s objectivesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Experience with efficient route planning and optimisation
  • Strong negotiation background
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient and confident with Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
    • KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Able to effectively work within a high-pressure, fast paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously, using a high degree of initiative
  • Knowledge of route planning software
  • Able to effectively detect, isolate and remedy poor or costly delivery practices
  • Tenacious
