Job Description

Steel Processor/Overhead Crane Operator / West Brom / £10.66/12.11 per hourA Steel Processor / Material Handler / Overhead Crane Operator / Shearing Operative is required for a large multi-national steel processing company based in West Bromwich, close to the border of Smethwick.Duties include:

  • Working on the shearing line
  • Working on the back end of machine lines (blanking press, slitter, etc.)
  • Banding and stacking processed steel blanks
  • Operating a pendant overhead crane and forklift truck
  • Moving steel stock around the workplace
  • Packing and palletizing steel ready for dispatch
  • General housekeeping
  • Any other duties as required
    • Applicants MUST have a background in manufacturing and steel processing. You MUST also be fit and able to carry out general labouring duties in the plant. Overhead crane experience is essential, and if you have experience operating steel guillotines that will be an advantage.Position is working rotating mornings and night shiftsMornings: 6am - 4pm Monday to Thursday. 6am - 1pm FridayNights: 6pm - 6am Monday to Thursday on nightsStarting rate of pay is £10.66 per hour on mornings, £12.11 per hour on nightsThis is a temporary to permanent position with long term prospects for the right candidate.Please note, if your application is suitable, one of our consultants will call you within 5 working days.
