Job Description

My client are a leading "Top Ten" Building Society based in the West Midlands. Due to a recent restructure within the Risk Team they are currently looking to hire a newly created role for a "Asset Liability Oversight Manager" who will report intoand work closely with the Chief Risk Officer. The roleThe roles purpose is to provide Second Line oversight and challenge of key Society Prudential ALM risks, covering market, liquidity, funding, capital, basis, margin compression and pension liability risk.Key responsibilities are:

  • Continued development of the Societys ALM Prudential Risk Management Framework, ensuring that it is dynamic and adapts to the changing priorities and challenges faced by the Society.
  • Delivery of an annual ALM Risk Oversight Plan to a standard that is consistent with the designated Board risk appetite and to the satisfaction of the Regulators including the PRA.
  • Provide timely independent reporting on the Societys management of prudential risks, including review and challenge on:
  • Day-to-day Treasury/ALM activities;
  • Assumptions underpinning ALM monitoring, planning and reporting (including stress testing);
  • Investment proposals submitted by the Treasury department to the Investment Committee
  • ALM related proposals presented to ALCo/RC for consideration;
  • ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan submissions, ensuring that latest prudential guidance from the regulator is incorporated and the documents reflect best market practice.
  • Highlight relevant changes in prudential regulation to key stakeholders, ensuring actions is taken to implement changes where appropriate.
  • Liaise with relevant First Line areas to ensure the Societys ALM risk management practices continue to develop, reflecting best practice and regulatory insight.
Key processes include:
  • Daily monitoring of the LCR and other Liquidity & ALM metrics.
  • Monthly update of the ALM Oversight Report and presentation to ALCo.
  • Lead the annual update of the Treasury Policy & ALM Risk Management Framework.
  • Lead the annual review and update of both the Recovery Plan and Resolution Pack.
  • Develop thematic reviews of key ALM processes.
The skills and experience required are:
  • Substantial treasury risk management experience including an understanding of ALM.
  • Subject matter expert for market, liquidity and capital risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, numeric and written.
  • Ability to develop a small team as well as building relationships with stakeholders across the Society.
