Job Description

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Communications and Marketing Officer to support the management and delivery of all aspects of day to day communications and marketing activity for one of our local government clients based in West Bridgford.The Communications and Marketing Officer will contribute to Communications and Marketing strategic planning and objective setting; contribute to internal communications to help drive staff engagement and support service departments by providing high level specialist advice on all aspects of communications and marketing activity.They will lead on the development and execution of internal and external communications initiatives. Create audience focused internal briefings, newsletters and email based communications and support making ongoing improvements to the systems processes and products. They will also assist in the planning, organisation and prioritisation of campaigns and events as well as identify and commission relevant advertising and promotional solutions.Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a communications and marketing environment.
  • Experience of developing and delivering effective communications programmes in a large, complex organisation.
  • Experienced with dealing with the media (reactive and often high level and sensitive issues) writing effective press release for a range of subjects.
  • Good copywriting skills across the full range of communications channels/disciplines (print, web, social media, PR etc)
  • Creative skills (creating bespoke graphics for use in social media, email bulletins etc) ability to brief Graphic Design teams on larger campaigns.
  • Good planning skills - able to create, manage and deliver an effective communications and marketing campaign.
  • Strong social media skills - on how to plan, deliver and measure effective campaigns etc.
  • Attention to detail - updating content on website and other channels (ensuring accuracy etc).
  • Good team player, collaborative and happy to pitch-in with whatever needs doing - but at the same time a self-starter who can work off own initiative and be trusted to maximise their capacity at a time where our whole team is working remotely.
  • Experience of working in local government or other public sector is preferred but not essential.
