About the roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen within our Quality Assurance department for a Technical Manager for our Non-Food own brand product range, based at our Wellingborough Head Office. This role will report to one of our Technical Controllers and is part ofa small team of Technical Managers.This role will give you the opportunity towork closely with your Suppliers, both in the UK and abroad. To enable you to carry this part of your role effectively, we are offering a car allowance as part of the renumeration package. We are currently workingat least three days in the office with some flexibility to work from home. More details can be discussed at interview.Role ResponsibilityThis role will be responsible for a wide range of non-food product activities, including:Managing the technical aspects of product development, specifications, packaging/labelling and product launches.Managing the technical relationship with our suppliers, ensuring they comply with our technical policies, maintain the safety and quality of our products and deal with any issues that may arise in those areas.Completing and maintaining all the required due diligence activities and records for our non-food own brand suppliers and products, in support of our policies and procedures.Responsibility for ensuring your products and packaging materials meet our sustainability requirements. Ensure our products comply with safety and quality standards through relevant testingYou will needExperience of a similar role in the non-food or packaging arena is preferredPackaging technology experience is preferredProven supplier & stakeholder management skillsPackaging substrate (films, paper, flexible plastics) experience or experience working on sustainable packaging initiatives would be highly advantageousWe would also consider a graduate or graduate calibre candidate with the relevant, formal packaging/materials qualification and industrial experience, looking for an upward moveStrong communication and analytical skills, with an eye for detailDesire to ensure exacting product and operational standardsUnderstanding and interest in emerging non-food legislation and policy initiativesUK driving licence is essential, with access to your own car for (Car Allowance provided)Whats in it for youAt Booker, along with being a great place to work and giving you an opportunity to get on in your career, we also offer the following fantastic package of benefits:
