Band 6 Rotational Physiotherapist (37.5 hours) permanentThis is an exciting opportunity to progress your physiotherapy career within our well established and dynamic physiotherapy service that includes Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital, St Albans City Hospital and the West Hertfordshire Therapy Unit, Jacketts Field, Abbots Langley. We are looking for an experienced band 5 or an existing band 6 looking to build on their skills through our rotational post. The West Herts therapy service as a whole provide all of the OT and Physio needs across the Trust and we work as an integrated department which creates numerous opportunities for peer support and supervision. Our rotational Band 6 scheme is still fortunate to have rotations through both inpatients and outpatients, allowing the post holder to gain further experience within these varied settings. The rotations are usually 6 months and rotate through;A&E/Acute assessment unit, Frailty, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory including ITU, General medicine, Surgical including outpatient Amputees, Acute Stroke Unit, Orthopaedics – trauma and elective as well as MSK and Women’s Health Outpatients. Each rotation is supported by a robust senior tier with a wealth of experience to help guide and support in both your individual learning needs but to also strive to ensure that the best standards of care are provided. A well established probation and appraisal process is in place to help facilitate this. We also offer In-Service training opportunities and experience will be gained in the supervision of band 5 physiotherapists, assistants and undergraduates when appropriate. We also have senior leadership training opportunities and a robust in service training programme. There are also opportunities for course funding both externally and through the department’s links with the University of Hertfordshire.West Hertfordshire NHS Trust is a busy acute district general with most of the main caseload now centralised at the Watford General Hospital site, with the exceptions of elective orthopaedic service which are at St Albans City Hospital and our Outpatient Physiotherapy Services which are based in Abbots Langley. As a trust we have one of the largest Acute Assessment Units which provides opportunities to provide rapid but comprehensive assessments to help support patients to the most appropriate place of care. We also provide Therapy Input into the MDT Frailty team. We have good working relationships with our community colleagues and services, to include discharge home to assess and early supported discharge for stroke, to enable best patient care. We have a 19 bedded ITU offering opportunities to enhance critical care management both respiartory and rehabilitation wise. The trust also has a cognitive assessment unit which the therapy team had a large role in helping establish and has a vital role in maintaining the service. We have Dementia and Delirium specialist therapists in both Physio and OT who can help develop and support with any complex patients both in the cognitive unit but on the wider wards. With the challenges of Covid our Outpatient Physiotherapy service, which is based at Abbots Langley, now offer patient care both virtually and face to face. The department is 7 day working and this post would be included in that rota (frequency of 1:6 weekends) with rest days in the following week, along with a requirement to be on the Respiratory on call evening rota.Watford General Hospital is within easy walking distance of the Metropolitan line (underground) and London Midland overland Train at Watford Junction Station, which is a 20 minute journey away from London Euston.Car drivers also have easy access via the M1, M25, M40, A1 and A41.For further details / informal visits contact:Jennifer Jarvis/Sophia Pinches/Sinead Turner/Claire Cutting, Inpatient Therapy Team Leads, .Or you may contact Marina Murray, Outpatient Therapy Team Lead on .
