An Orthopaedic Nurse is responsible for ensuring that patients are appropriately cared for pre- and post-operatively after surgery. Working in partnership with almost 7,500 experienced consultants, our hospitals delivered tailored, personalised care to almost 750,000 inpatients and day case patientsin 2020.Description* Providing high quality care* Assessing and supporting the operational team to implement the care, writing person centred care plans & risk assessments* Preparing specialist drugs and equipment including anaesthetic machine and IV equipment* Communicating regularly with the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team, acting as the patients advocate* Providing appropriate treatment to patient until they recover from anaesthesia effects or surgery* Auditing, reviewing and maintaining clinical documentation* Monitoring and ensuring the delivery of care is clinically suitable & evidence based* Acting as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the hospitalProfileTo be able to carry out a successful surgery there has to be effective teamwork.Being able to work in a team is a vital skill for Scrub Nurses to possess.This is because usually in theatre there are usually two scrub nurses (theatre practitioners), up to two theatre support workers, an ODP (anaesthetic nurse, an anaesthetist (sometimes an anaesthetist consultant and registrar) and multiple surgeons (dependingon the procedure).Each individual has a different role to play in ensuring the procedure runs smoothly.Team work in theatres is important as it allows for structure.This is because everyone is aware of their role and what is expected of them.This means that no two people are doing the same thing as this can negatively affect the patient or even delay starting a list.Communication is a vital skill for Scrub Nurses.This is because they are constantly communicating with multidisciplinary team.Job OfferThe opportunity to work in a large private hospital, joining a theatre with lots of positions available.This is a block booking for a minimum of three months and the rates of pay are high, payments are also made weekly on Fridays!You will be working with a highly skilled team and will likely have the chance to learn new skills and meet new people.
