Job Description

Our client an established and expanding manufacturing business are currently looking to recruit Extrusion Operators to join their team.Overall Purpose:

  • Working as part of a team of machine operators within the thermoforming production environment, you will effectively maintain machine efficiency and quality, producing material to the correct customer requirements and BRC quality standards.
    • Main Duties:
  • Working in accordance with the companys BRC Certification, Health & Safety policy and good manufacturing practice.
  • Perform product changeovers, setups and run to the manufacturing specification, particularly within the production time targets.
  • Diagnose and correct running faults in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate progress and any issues that arise with the Shift Manager.
  • Ensure correct raw materials are input into the extruder to the correct specifications.
  • Monitor the quality sheet being produced.
  • Ensure the reels of extruded sheet are stacked, neatly, correctly labelled and marked with the correct signage.
  • Ensure all the correct IT procedures are followed and paperwork is accurate and reels used in numerical order.
  • Ensure all waste or defect product is segregated to enable appropriate removal.
  • Maintain all equipment in a satisfactorily clean, safe and operational state.
  • Ensure all emergency stop/safety systems are in place before entering guarding.
  • To control and minimise the levels of any waste and ensure machine is achieving maximum productivity.
  • Take an active part in any training and development programmes.
  • Carry out all machine clean downs as instructed on the SOP.
  • The correct PPE must be worn where stated and safe working practices adhered to.
  • Always maintain a clean, organised and safe environment.
  • Responsible for machine handover to the next shift operator.
    • Key Requirements:
  • Experienced extrusion machine operator.
  • Working with polypropylene material for food packaging, specifically Diamat machines would be an advantage.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and working shift patterns.
    • The Role/Package:
  • Starting hourly rate £10.28 or £11.78 dependent upon experience, fully trained rate is £13.28.
  • Initially may be working a 5 day, 8 hour three shift pattern but be prepared to work the 24/7 shift 12 hour shift pattern if required.
  • 23 or 33 days holiday including BH, depending upon shift pattern worked.
  • Auto-enrolment Pension 5% employee and 3% employer after 3 months.
