Job Description

A Control Systems Engineer with experience of Electrical and control system design for automation machinery is sought by a Sunderland based Engineering company.Working on specialist production machinery you will be responsible for developing new control systems and software for innovative automation machinery. You will also be involved in Electrical Design, Installation and Commissioning and Project manage andsupport electrical machine build, commissioning and installationOther responsibilities will include: -

  • Managing suppliers and part lists, including design change and obsolescence
  • Producing assembly procedures/job sheets
  • Design, implementation and fault finding of Codesys PLC and ladder logic
  • Design and fault finding on Multi Axis Motion Controls
  • Ladder logic fault finding
  • Electronic fault finding and machine maintenance and performance improvement.
  • Research and development of new cutting-edge technologies to be implemented within new equipment
  • Project management of development activities following a Stage Gate process.
KEY SKILLSThe successful candidate will be degree qualified in electronics, control, automation, PLC programming or similar discipline, have a structured approach to development and be have a practical and logical approach to work.Other skills and qualities needed include
  • Proven design capability in electrical and control systems.
  • PLC / ladder logic development within an automation environment
  • Experience of installation and commissioning of electrical systems
  • Fault finding and repair of electronic components (desirable)
  • SCADA / OPC / GUI / App development (desirable)
  • Knowledge of or writing of firmware.
  • AutoCAD , Solid works or Promis.E electrical drawing experience
  • Experience within the design, development, build, commissioning and support of special purpose machinery.
  • New product development following a Stage Gate or similar process
  • Knowledge and experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment
