Job Description

Join the team at Elysium Healthcare North Region where you will provide cover across any of the sites within the region, preparing and cooking lunch and dinner for staff and service users at any of the sites across the Northern Region. You will also provideguidance and training to your peers.In this role, you will provide relief cover across the North Region. This may involve moving sites at short notice depending on the needs of the region. Its a calm and pleasurable working environment, where youll be able to manage your workload and enjoycreating meals. Theres a great social aspect to this role where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in food purchasing through established procedures with an emphasis on cost and quality control
  • Responsible for the hygiene throughout the department, ensuring Elysium Healthcares Corporate Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Policies are maintained.
  • Contribute to planning menus taking into account special nutritional, dietary and ethnic needs.
  • Take charge of the department in the Head Chefs absence, to ensure that service requirements are met.
  • Co-ordinate the production and distribution of food throughout the hospital.
  • Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures
  • Preparing and cooking meals to a consistently high standard
  • Preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (Intermediate desirable)
  • Supervising qualification or working towards
  • Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing
  • Some supervising experience
  • A clean driving licence and access to a car
