Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for driven individuals who are looking for a "practical", experience based route to a Degree in Chemical and Process Engineering. The role will require the individual to participate in various areas of practical and theoretical training combined with the Company specific training given in the workplace. To undertake the necessary work, training and Academic placements to obtain a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, awarded by the University of Chester. This will be via an average of 40 days per year spent at the University Facilities over a 5 year period. Provide engineering conceptual and detailed design, drawings, modelling, calculations, and technical solutions in the delivery of customer funded tasks and projects. Work will be directed, guided and supervised by a Senior/ Functional Lead or Technical Specialist for the relevant task or project being undertaken. We are looking for an individual who is

  • Certifications Working towards professional accreditation with the IChemE Role responsibilities These will include, but not be limited to;
  • Working in accordance with the Being Cavendish Nuclear Principles.
  • Gain experience in: applying procedures, codes, regulatory requirements and standards and learning how they are applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • Supervised production of: calculations, analysis, drawings, models, design base documentation and technical reports.
  • Gain experience of the requirements for: Reviewing, Verifying and Approval and ensuring they are understood for all their deliverables.
  • Proactive in driving own learning and development.
  • Gain awareness of Scopes of Work.
  • Gaining experience in carrying out design risk assessments.
  • Reviewing design changes.
  • Gain experience in assessing concessions and Technical Queries.
  • Gain understanding of preparing designs for hazard identification and HAZOP studies.
  • Achieve competencies detailed by the Engineering Council in the UK-SPEC to realise professional registration with a relevant institution.
  • Qualifications Successful applicants will have or be predicted 3 A Levels in related subjects including Chemistry at grade B or above or equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC at Merit or Distinction. They will also have 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) with English and Mathematics at B/6 or higher. Specific requirements are 120 UCAS points from GCE A Level or equivalent. Typical offer AAB. The Department requires the following: Chemistry and Maths - (minimum grade C/B for BEng/MEng) BTEC Engineering plus A2 Level Chemistry International Baccalaureate - 30 points, inc. 5 in HL Maths and 5 in HL Chemistry Access to HE Diploma Science and Engineering (Maths and Chemistry at Level 3), to include 45 credits at level 3, 30 of which must be at Merit Please note that the university accept a maximum of 8 points from GCE AS Levels and that the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) and General Studies A Level will be recognised in our offer. We will also consider a combination of A levels and BTECs/OCRs. Although not part of the entry requirements, we would recommend that students take mechanics modules as part of their A2 level course.
