Team overviewSpectrum is a vital resource used by almost everyone, consumers as well as businesses and it touches everyones life every day. The radio spectrum connects our mobiles, wireless headphones, tablets and computers. It enables our key fobs to unlock our cars,the Met Office to forecast the weather, satellites to measure global warming, concerts and shows to be seen and heard. TV and radio broadcasting would not exist without it. Without access to spectrum, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and air traffic controlwould not be able to communicate - its that important.Spectrum Assurance is a large team consisting of two core elements, the network of field-based Spectrum Engineering Officers and Spectrum Management Centre (SMC), Ofcoms 24 hour operations hub. The field based team is split into four main areas. EnglandNorth region has c9 direct reports, which includes 3 senior engineers who will help you and the team manage and protect the UKs radio spectrum, delivering a wide range of vital services to the UK businesses and consumers. The Spectrum Assurance team is ISO9001accredited and operates a policy of continuous improvement.This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role leading a regional team of field based colleagues, inspiring them to meet Ofcoms ambition to make communications work for everyone. You will work with the Head of Spectrum Assurance and management teamto help set operational delivery of the team.Regional teams within Spectrum Assurance not only provide advice, assistance and, where necessary, enforcement to resolve interference issues, it also monitors and proactively investigates improper use of the spectrum, to keep the UKs businesses and consumerson the air.Purpose of the RoleThe key purpose of this challenging role is to ensure the regional team delivers high-quality services to spectrum users. This requires first class direction of a geographically dispersed operational team.You will be a member of the Spectrum Assurance (SA) management team, helping set direction by collaboratively engaging across and beyond. You will be a positive role model for developing the productive, challenging and respectful relationships needed forthe team to succeed.
