This is a well-established engineering company in Ware that trades across the UK and nationally. The staff turnover is low and people like working here. There is free parking on site, and you are close to the town centre, the train station and bus routes.The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 16.30 with 30 minutes unpaid break for lunch (13:00-13:30); Friday 07.30 to 12:30 - Total 39 Hours/week. Overtime is available as required.You get 25 days holiday a year (plus bank holidays) and there is a discretionary bonus near Christmas most years. There is also access to a staff kitchen with an oven, a microwave, fridge, and free coffee.You will need to be an experienced worker with experience of turning and milling, ideally with a full car licence. There will be forklift truck training for the successful applicant. The turning will be large turning up to 3m with 300mm diameter and themilling up to one metre cubed (1m3). This is manual milling / turning with numerical control and use of instruments such as micrometre and vernier. You will be working from engineering drawings.In summary, you will be responsible for operating the Cylindrical Grinding machines and general production machines in the manufacture and refurbishment of component parts.Primary Areas of Responsibility:Follow the company Health & Safety proceduresFollow the company Environmental proceduresOperate plant and equipment and follow safe operating instructionsMaintain good working practice and housekeeping.Preserve both the status and identity of products at all timesUse equipment correctly and ensuring such equipment is in a satisfactory condition prior to usage and for timely reporting of any equipment faults.Handle and store correctly both Company and Customer itemsReporting of any non-compliancesRecording and verification of process informationEnsuring completed tasks are progressed/available for the next operation.Ideal Experience:Apprentice trained qualification to City and Guilds Craft level or 3 years experience in a similar position.Having good knowledge and understanding of machine shop practices, as well as understanding and interpreting engineering drawings and the ability to use all measuring equipment related to specific requirements including inspection of own work.Personal Attributes:Ability and willingness to learn new systems and proceduresGood communication and relationship building skillsMust be able to work with no direct supervision to tight schedules and manage a number of tasks at the same timeYou will report to the Factory Manager as your direct line manager.If this sounds like a good challenge and a job you would enjoy doing and you have the right background, then we would like to hear from you with a CV without delay.
