Job Description

Service/Ward/Department Summary:John Elliot unit is an inpatient acute admissions unit serving the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale areas of Greater Manchester.We are situated between Rochdale and Littleborough and are very close to the M60/M62. Rochdale is 30 mins by car from North Manchester and that there is free and ample parking on site.Role Summary:To provide a comprehensive and specialist Mental Health service predominately over the night time period, to adults of working age people with acute mental health problems.We recognise that some registered nurses prefer night duty and this role will be predominantly a night based role. There may rotation to days in order to meet training and service needs.You will be responsible for undertaking and managing direct patient care from assessing patients’ needs through to planning and delivering of high quality care.To act as Nurse in Charge of shift, in the absence of senior nurses.Direct supervision of junior staffKey Responsibilities of the Post

  • To work in line with the Policies and Procedures agreed by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust as a registered nurse, predominately on nights.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate care within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Manage and co-ordinate staff effectively over the night time period to ensure the ward is effectively and safely operating.
  • Develop risk management plans for patients and ensure that they are appropriately communicated and actioned within the team.
  • To understand the importance of the need for confidentiality in all patient matters.
  • Accurately document all information relevant to a patients care and treatment appropriately.
  • There may rotation to days to be expected
