Job Description

Head Of Logistics 3PL & Freight Forwarding Operation Preston £45,000 - £50,000 (flexible depending experience) + Bonus MondayFriday, Days Im currently recruiting for an experienced Logistics Manager reporting to the Directors be responsible for leading and developing the profitable growth of the Reload business in GB and Europe.The Head of Contract Logistics will provide consistent, high quality customer service for Supply Chain Customers, who value long term relationships. The Head of Contract Logistics will engage directly with the Key account customers, Area Sales Managers,Business Directors and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless service to their customers.Benefits:-

The Candidate;
  • A background within road haulage & freight forwarding id highly advantageous
  • Experience of managing a third party logistics operations
  • Shipping industry experience is desirable
  • Strong leadership experience in a customer facing role in Supply Chain, Haulage, Freight Forwarding, Logistics role, ideally from within EU Logistics industry
  • Previous experience dealing with all UK ports is highly advantageous
  • Thorough knowledge of supply chain management and transport haulage procedures
  • Previous experience of managing 3PL & 4PL logistics providers
  • A strong working knowledge and contact base within UK road freight
  • Previous experience within supply chain management
  • Previous experience of managing key customer relationships is essential
  • An understanding of procurement, pricing and quotations
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Must have a can do attitude
  • Presentable, polite and demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Competent decision making
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities;
  • Manage relationship with third party road and other logistics providers
  • Effectively deliver customer supply chain solutions
  • Maximise efficiencies in shipping, logistics, and supply chain delivery
  • Be the customer relationship contact for a key customer base, developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Support team with any issues or pressures in workload and re-distribute as necessary
  • Identifying opportunities to increase and improve services to new and existing customers; quoting and following up new business opportunities, alongside the commercial team.
  • Ensure quality standards, financial targets and environmental objectives are met
  • Motivate, organise and encourage teamwork to ensure quality standards and productivity targets are met.
  • Holds the primary responsibility for first class service delivery and subsequent customer retention on that basis
  • Pro-actively deliver business solutions to secure new business
  • P&L responsibility for this business unit
  • Ensuring KPI targets are met/exceeded
  • Assists with the identification of cross sell/up sells opportunities to the customers
  • Collaboration across teams including Commercial, Operations, Ferries and Customs
  • Stakeholder management
  • In conjunction with the General Manager for other business units and the Senior Management team, understand opportunities to innovate and optimise team/customer service delivery
  • Is responsible for driving team performance through avenues such as coaching, monthly 1-2-1s, mid-year and end of year appraisals, setting of clear and realistic objectives and discussing these on a monthly basis
