Job Description

College Estates and FacilitiesManager

  • Salary: £51,000- £57,500per annum (depending on experience and inclusive of location allowances)
  • Location: East London
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Annual Leave: 35 days, plus bank holidays
We are seeking an Estates Manager to ensure the highest standards of building maintenance and development, providing the best possible facilities for students and staff. The role involves leading on the management of health and safety in line with statutoryand regulatory requirements, managing refurbishment projects, and deputising for the Vice Principal regarding Estates matters. Day to day responsibilities:
  • Lead and effectively deploy the site team, focusing on customer service and ensuring all management duties are carried out in accordance with College policy.
  • Manage the planning and execution of building-related projects, ensuring high-quality work, efficient use of resources, and minimal disruption to stakeholders.
  • Procure and manage contractors, utilities providers, and other service providers in accordance with college policies and in liaison with the Finance Manager.
  • Lead the team of Security Officers to provide a secure, welcoming, and supportive environment for students and engage in general Duty Manager responsibilities.
  • Monitor and maintain the college site, including cleaning, health and safety, CCTV, and security, and carry out various risk assessments.
  • Contribute to capital funding applications and operate within annual estates budgets, submitting annual budget requests in accordance with financial protocols.
  • Provide reports on estates/facilities performance, utilisation, health and safety, and submit an annual Self-Assessment Report (SAR) with operational smart targets and actions.
  • Manage key areas such as risk management, disaster management and recovery, and site security.
  • Lead on the hiring and letting of the College premises and manage the on-call provision and weekend work schedule as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in estates management, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to manage compliance.
  • Experience in managing building projects and refurbishments.
  • Competency in procurement and contractor management.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a senior management team.
