Job Description

An experienced Mechanical Pipe Fitter with City & Guilds / NVQ training is needed to join the team at this well-established heating and plumbing company based in Walsall. You will be working on Commercial Projects in and around the West Midlands.The company was founded in 1970 and employs numerous office and outside staff. Their office staff are highly trained and qualified to carry out the design, estimating and contracting of a project from initial enquiry through to completion.This is an excellent opportunity to progress your career with a well-established company!The selected candidate will be working generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday with overtime as and when required.About the CompanyThey are a well-established Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and electrical contracting company servicing the public and private sectors. Their outside operatives consist of Pipe-fitters, Plumbers, Welders, Gas Engineers, Air Conditioning Engineers,and Electricians. All operatives are qualified or are training towards an industry-recognised qualification.Key Responsibilities:

  • Installing plant and steel, copper and plastic pipework systems to provide heating, gas, chilled water, steam, condensate, domestic water
  • Utilising screwed fittings, welding, soldering, press-fit and solvent weld methods
  • Accurately measure, cut, and install various types of pipes, ensuring they align with specifications and drawings
  • Diagnose and repair faults in piping systems, including replacing worn components and ensuring efficient operation
  • Pressure-test systems to ensure there are no leaks and ensure installed systems meet all safety regulations and standards
  • Work closely with other tradespeople, such as welders or plumbers, and communicate effectively to complete projects and ensure optimal system function
Required Experience:
  • Experience in pipework installation
  • City & Guilds / NVQ trained individuals
  • Skills ranging from Installer, Craftsperson, Senior Craftsperson and Team Leader (formally Foreman)
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience in new build and refurbishment projects in Hospitals, Universities, Schools and Commercial Buildings is preferred
