Job Description

Yard ManagerThis is a fantastic opportunity to work for one of the London Stock Exchange Group’s Top 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2020.Conservatory Outlet Ltd is an industry-leading manufacturer of home improvement products spanning contemporary extensions, conservatories, orangeries, roofs, glass, windows and doors in both uPVC and aluminium. You will implement the full processes and procedures, with a strong focus on health and safety and a disciplined and organised approach. You will be responsible for the safe movement of goods around the site, unloading and organising goods received in a systematic and methodical manner, maintaining an organised and tidy yard at all times.Your role will include receiving deliveries, booking in stock; issuing out stock, profile checking and managing the completion of monthly stock takes within deadlines set.You will demonstrate the ability to "Make it Happen", with excellent project management, planning, execution, communicating and organising skills.You will develop and embed safe systems of work, be a strong team manager, customer focused and take ownership of ensuring product is in the right place at the right time to meet the needs of production.You will be highly motivated, with a "can-do" approach, enthusiastic and committed.   • Manage all Yard operations and ensure compliance with Health and Safety;
  • Ensure the Yard Personnel maintain a clean, neat and tidy yard always;
  • Maintain an optimal level of customer service and assist to resolve customer issues;
  • Manage all customer and company staff in all yard operations;
  • Ensure all yard staff are fully trained in the safe movement of product, implementing and adhering to safe work procedures;
  • Oversee and implement updated procedures for issuing out stock within the Factory and Yard ensuring items are picked in a timely and efficient manner working closely with the Production Team to identify any stock shortages;
  • To implement a robust stock control system and ensuring that the correct stock levels are maintained to ensure no shortages arise;
  • To develop, assess, update and maintain all SOP’s and risk assessments within the Yard;
  • To manage monthly stock take counts, ensure that stock take sheets / tablets are prepared and issued in a timely manner and the completed sheets / tablets are returned to the Purchasing Manager;
  • To work closely with the Head of Purchasing to ensure all stock levels are kept up to date and stock levels are continuously updated to reflect the business needs;
  • To coach and mentor staff team, initiating, coordinating and enforcing company systems, policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring the unloading and movement of materials to ensure safe transfer to other areas;
  • Coordinate with other departments and investigate accidents and identify root cause;
  • Monitor and manage the performance of the team.
  • Person Attributes
  • A focused, organised individual with a strong knowledge of safe working practices, ensuring all team members remain focused on health and safety and the safe movement of material around the site;
  • A strong, disciplined, experienced Yard Manager;
  • Experience of the window industry would be an advantage;
  • Sound working knowledge and experience of working in a similar role in a fast-moving company;
  • Solid Yard experience with the ability to implement new initiatives and effective processes to manage products and timescales;
  • Strong people management skills, an assertive, confident individual who can manage a team and gain respect from colleagues with the ability to coach, mentor and motivate the staff team;
  • Excellent project management skills, from planning, implementing to execution.
  • To be fully competent in all areas, identify, develop and manage process improvement through attention to detail;
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent planning, organisational, decision making and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent IT skills.
