Job Description

Team Manager Location: West YorkshirePay rate: £40.88Our client is searching for a Team Manager that will lead a Children in care team. This role will lead and manage a social work team of 5 Social Workers, 1 advanced Practioner and a child and family assessment worker. In this role you will ensure the serviceprovided is effective and delivers positive outcomes for children and their families ensuring that the social workers you have responsibility for meet the statutory requirements set through legislation, national and regional guidance in respect of childrenin need, child protection, looked after children and care leavers.Working in accordance with social care legislation and local government requirements, informed by the values and principles of social care; you will be supporting in the delivery of person centred, safe and effective social care services. Using your professionalknowledge and experience you’ll make assessments and decisions about the most appropriate interventions. Applying your significantSocial Workexperience and excellent communication skills you’ll establish and maintain relationships with serviceusers and other agencies to ensure services meet identified needs.You’ll be committed to ensure positive and sustainable results of your interventions. Using best practice, you’ll strive to provide the best outcomes for children. Most importantly however, you’ll have a passion for supporting children and their families toensure that they thrive and flourish.   • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experienced in working with children and families including those from vulnerable groups.
  • Creative, flexible and forward thinking in approach.
  • Knowledgeable of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for children.
  • Able to use excellent mediation and negotiation skills on behalf of service users.
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • 4 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Provide leadership, effective management and support to staff.
  • Manage the workload and performance of the team, support staff to deliver integrated, high quality services that meet service objectives and priorities and targets.
  • The allocation of work to staff (according to priorities) and responsibility for the management of work that is not allocated.
  • Implementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Quality control and quality assurance.
  • Complaints investigation and resolution.
  • Recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Staff induction, development, supervision and appraisal in line with agreed policies.
  • Assessment and development of practice.
  • To make the most effective use of resources (human, financial and others) so that services provide value for money.
  • To effectively manage staff absence in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • To take appropriate action under discipline and grievance, capability and other procedures.
  • Manage and monitor devolved budgets.
  • To ensure that staff operate within statutory requirements, council and directorate policies and procedures.
  • To ensure that services offer equal opportunities to all service users and employees and that diversity within the service is encouraged and promoted.
  • Implement Health and Safety policy and procedures and ensure employees are aware of and observe statutory and council requirements to achieve a safe working environment.
  • Communication with employees, colleagues and senior managers and responsible for the dissemination of information to staff and for informing Service Managers and the Service Director of relevant issues affecting the team and service.
  • To work with Service Managers and other managers and employees to develop the service and meet objectives and targets.
  • Record and provide information and data as required by the directorate, the Council and the Government.
  • Within the context of the relevant Service Improvement Plan to develop a team or unit business plan that sets out action against key objectives and targets.
  • To develop, promote and maintain effective communication, liaison and joint working with other Council departments and agencies.
  • To chair meetings that will include case discussions, professionals meetings, planning meetings, strategy meetings and case reviews.
  • To work collaboratively with other team managers, to be collectively responsible for the work and objectives of the service area and to cover for colleagues when necessary.
  • To work in Social Care Direct for one week per year on a rota system
  • To be responsible for own professional development and participate in relevant training.
  • To participate in supervision, appraisal and other development activities as required by the Service Manager and Directorate policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties required by the post and within the competency of the post holder.
