Job Description

If so, I have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Equipment and Wheelchair Service team as a Stores/Infection Control Operative working at Wakefield Council in the WF2 postcode.
  • As a Stores/Infection Control Operative, you will be responsible for providing effective equipment cleaning and decontamination service for equipment collected or returned, ensuring strict adherence to Health and Safety and Infection Control policies.
Duties include:
  • To clean items in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines and local Infection Control Policies.
  • Maintain a segregated and quarantined area for dirty equipment that has been collected or returned from both clients and patients in order to reduce cross contamination.
  • Use large industrial washing appliances to decontaminate and wash equipment. Ensure each appliance is maintained and cleaned to a high standard in accordance with the decontamination policy and report faults as necessary.
  • Liaise with the Engineering staff to service items held in cleaning before they are assembled for further deliveries
  • Highlight equipment that is unserviceable or beyond repair prior to disposal in order to maintain correct stock levels and generate new orders.
  • To competently utilise appropriate IT hardware and systems as and where necessary to ensure equipment is recorded as within stores or infection control.
  • To undertake general warehouse and stock duties as directed by the Operational Team Leader ensuring stock areas are tidy, stock levels are adequate and equipment is bar coded.
  • Undertake picking of stock from stores to fulfil daily orders.
  • To assist with deliveries from suppliers and contractors.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
  • Knowledge of Moving and Handling techniques.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety including risk assessments and visual risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of Customer Service concepts, principles and techniques and a commitment to respond to customer needs and proactively manage expectations.
  • Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) processes and procedures and legal requirements
  • Knowledge of COSHH Regulations.
  • Understanding of Stock Management controls and techniques
  • Knowledge of effective team working.
  • Understanding and knowledge of data protection, information governance and working in a confidential and sensitive environment.
  • Evidence of working within a warehouse or stores environment
  • Ability to handle heavy (25kg+) equipment using safe moving and handling techniques and lifting equipment where required.
  • Ability to deal with distressing and emotionally demanding situations;
  • Ability to work methodically;
  • Ability to work alone or as a team member;
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to changing situations
  • Ability to champion new ways of working and display a positive can do attitude.
  • Ability to respond independently to unexpected problems and situations.
  • Excellent time management skills and understanding of work related pressures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • IT literate
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible.
A pay rate of up to £11.79 is on offer and the hours of work are 37 per week, flexibly between 8am and 8pm Mon to Fri.Please apply today to register your interest.
