Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Retinal Screener/Primary Grader to join our progressive team at TheMid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The DESP hub is based at The Eye Centre at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield but our clinics are based all around the Leeds, Wakefield and North Kirklees area in community venues.This role would require the successful candidate to work as part of a multidisciplinary team where effective communication skills are essential. Your duties will include running autonomous retinal screening clinics at various locations throughout the Leeds, Wakefield and North Kirklees geographical area. This requires candidates to consider the requirement for significant travel across the location and a car driver with access to their own vehicle would be preferred. Grading is completed at the DESP hub and you would be required to complete full disease image retinopathy grading at a primary level.We are looking for a reliable person who is able to pay close and accurate attention to detail. You must also demonstrate excellent communication skills, a caring manner with all ages and abilities and be able to empathise with and support patients and team members.Candidates should have clinical experience of working within a Diabetic Eye Screening Programme and would ideally hold the Diploma for Health Screeners – Diabetic Eye Screening, or City & Guilds equivalent.For further information or an informal discussion please contact Sarah Sharps or Helen Wood on .
