Production Planning Manager

Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Planner Manager to join a leading manufacturing company who supply to some of the largest global industries including Oil & Gas and Agriculture.

• Build and develop the production planning function and lead the team of Coordinators.
• Liaise extensively with the Commercial Team and Site Shift Managers to programme confirmed customer orders and demand forecasts, to meet volume requirements & agreed fulfilment dates.
• Produce daily shift production plans, incorporating product type, volumes, specified packaging format and labelling requirements by customer. All order changes or cancellations will be routed through the Production Planner to enable real-time re-programmingand the co-ordination and communication of intervention and actions where required.
• Continuously monitor raw material and packaging stock levels, initiating replenishment where required, to meet the agreed production plan and ensure agreed levels of critical materials are maintained.
• Monitor finished goods stocks, maintaining agreed levels of critical products and optimising holdings consistent to achieve plan fulfilment.
• Coordinate the ordering, scheduling and sequencing of all inbound and outbound transport & logistics, extending access times and optimising gate-to-gate times, driving agile fulfilment to ensure >95% on time and in full (OTIF) despatches.
• Maintain real-time visibility of live work in progress (WIP) and achieve fulfilment performance, monitoring OTIF levels and producing daily reports & team updates.
• Be the data hub by downloading, uploading and sharing data as required, to maintain accurate, up-to-date and consistent information. Liaise with Finance and Business Support to develop electronic and manual system capabilities to drive process efficiencies.
• Ensure effective use of resources: raw materials, staff and assets.
• Escalate any production planning issues, effectively seek resolutions and advise the Commercial Team as soon as possible if customer communication is required.
• Create a culture for success by leading from the front, role-modelling effective leadership whilst living and promoting the companys values and behaviours.
• Working closely with the Commercial & Operations teams to ensure that the business has an industry-leading and agile fulfilment capability - creating sustainable market advantage & growth opportunities, optimising industry reputation and safeguarding keycustomer relationships.
• Be continuously aware of industry best-practice and trends.
• Produce and present reports as requested and/or necessary, to the Head of Site Operations, for example Performance v Plan, Capacity Utilisation, OTIF, Performance of Logistics.

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years experience working within a Production Planning role and Management
• Professional approach with high standards of personal discipline, ethics and integrity
• Track record of working collaboratively and leading with other team members with own and wider organisational teams
• Excellent knowledge and experience of using Information Systems, for example MS Office packages
• Confidence and ability to challenge the effectiveness of current work practices and provide suggestions for improvement.
