Job Description

Overview and Responsibilities Maintenance AssistantLocation: WakefieldContract Type: Full-time, PermanentHours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year, Monday to Friday** We would be willing to consider part time hours for the right candidate. Please include on your application if you are looking to only work certain days/hours/weeks **Salary: £11.00 to £11.20 per hour (depending on experience )Aurora Ivy LaneSchool is a specialist school providing education for young people aged 11 to 19 with complex care needs including behaviours that challenge and learning disabilities, often in association with autism spectrumconditions. We work hard to ensure students have a holistic and supportive environment, enabling them to flourish and develop in all aspects of life.We are now looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant to join our team.The main purpose of the role:To assist in maintaining the site by undertaking a range of maintenance/grounds tasks under direction and supervision. Duties are likely to include undertaking all types of general repairs/renewal in maintenance related issues, painting and decorating, groundsmaintenance such as grass cutting/clearing and planned maintenance works.The role requires emphasis on Health & Safety relevant to the premises ensuring that the building and grounds are fit for purpose for students and staff to enable them to fulfil their roles.Key duties:

  • To assist in routine Maintenance work and new works in line with service needs and as required
  • Assisting in all aspects of building and grounds Maintenance
  • Keeping all external areas tidy and free of litter in conjunction with the domestic team
  • Assisting with securing the buildings and site as required
  • To assist in maintaining equipment, ensuring that any defects are reported to your line manager and via the appropriate reporting systems
  • Always working in a manner that promotes the health and safety of all staff and students
  • To assist in setting up public events held by the school i.e., school fete
Skills and Qualifications Successful candidate qualities:
  • Experience working within an educational setting is desirable but not essential
  • General maintenance and grounds knowledge and experience
  • Good IT Skills
