Job Description

Hydraulic Fitter/Service Engineer LOCATION: Wakefield and surrounding areaSALARY: Generous hourly rate and opportunity for overtime, 39 hours per week is standard, 25 days holiday plus BH, Vehicle provided for external working on customer sites*STRONG AWARENESS OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS AND COMPONENTS ESSENTIAL*My client are looking for a skilled hydraulic engineer with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hydraulic Systems and components. The successful candidate should have an ability to read and interpret Hydraulic circuit drawings.The company:The company have over 40 years experience within Hydraulics. With a reputation as being fluid power specialists, the company has evolved and grown over the last 40 years. They a 24/7 hose call out service as well as a specialised depot separate to their workshop site which provides a range of hydraulic solutions to businesses and the general public.The role: The role will include but may not be limited to: Installation, Commissioning, disassemble Fault Finding / Diagnostics, Service, Repair, Retrofits, Upgrades on Complete Hydraulic systems (HPU’s) and components - Hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, piping.Work will include working on site and in-house to suit business needs. Completing field reports and timesheets/expense forms in a timely manner so being organised is a key requirement.Key Essential Skills:

  • Ability to work safely and follow RAMS and Permits To Work Systems at all times.
  • Understand and interpret Hydraulic system drawings
  • Ability to build and test complete HPUs, sub assemblies (manifolds) and base parts (pumps, valves, cylinders) from assembly drawings.
  • Ability to strip, assess and identify hydraulic parts in need of repair from Drawings/BOMs.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic installations
  • Hands on experience of Hydraulic piston pumps, Pressure and Flow Control Valves, Directional Control Valves, Check Valves, Double and Single Acting Cylinders.
  • Experience in Field diagnosis and knowledgeable in site repairs
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Report writing skills and troubleshooting would be an advantage.
  • ONC / HNC qualified or recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship
  • Full Clean driving Licence
  • Availability to work away for short spells - often at short notice.
  • Advantageous Skills (Any, not all):
  • Previously worked in a Field Service Role in the Hydraulic industry.
  • Experience of Electro-Hydraulic Systems, proportional/Servo valves and associated controls.
  • MIG/TIG/ARC Welding - Tank/Frame Fabrication skills.
  • Hydraulic Pipework Inc use of forming/Bending machines.
  • Pressure testing of pipework up to > 210bar.
  • Use of fluid cleanliness testing equipment.
