Job Description

Family Intervention PractitionerLocation: WakefieldSalary Details: £20,598 FTE per annumHours of work: 30 hours per weekAbout the charity Our client is a national charity which has been supporting disabled children, young people and families since 1970.They work with children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, from birth through to 25 years. Each year they support over 13,700 children, young people and families supported across over 80 services.They are passionate, caring and trusted and their vision is a world in which all disabled children and young people realise their aspirations. They offer support and practical help for families, every step of the way.About the role This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work within a new project in Wakefield as a Familiy Intervention Practitioner.Wakefield Autism Support Project (WASP) is funded by Wakefield CCG and is a collaboration between our client and another charity. The service is unique in its approach to supporting children and young people’s emotional wellbeing, particularly where a young person experiences anxiety and low mood as a result of an Autism Spectrum Condition or where not diagnosed but identified social, communication and interaction difficulties or other neuro-developmental disorders. WASP offers two distinct complementary elements which work in collaboration with each other to support both the parents/carers and the young person with a bespoke package of support.The aim of the project in Wakefield is to work alongside existing commissioned services to identify young people who require targeted support around their emotional wellbeing in order to prevent a deterioration which may require more potentially intense intervention.The Family Intervention Practitioner will work towards reducing the risk of crisis through providing interventions, coordinated support, practical information and emotional support to children, young people and their parents, carers.About you Working as a Family Intervention Practitioner you will be qualified to a minimum NVQ level 3 working with Children & Young People.You will have direct experience of working with children with Autism and or Mental Health and have knowledge of relevant legislation such as Mental Health Act 198, Mental Capacity Act 2005 Children Act 1989, Children and Families Act 2014, Care Act 2015, Equality Act 2010.You will have experience of managing a case load, and able to follow action plans and manage deadlines and priorities.You will have experience of person-centred planning and multi-agency working and will be able to deliver interventions 1:1 or working with groups including young people in an empowering and creative way in a range of settings.
