Job Description

Are you looking for a career in education to support and inspire young people with Autism, Complex Needs and Communication BarriersA Special School in Wakefield is looking for a caring and experienced Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. The school caters for children and young people from 4 to 18 years with various need including Autism, Learning Disabilities and Downs Syndrome.If you are patient, understanding and up for a challenge then this role will be perfect for you.The school is looking for a full-time Behaviour Support Assistant to start as soon as possible until the end of the academic year and beyond.As a Behaviour Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • To ensure child care plans are followed accurately so the needs and requirements of each child are met.
  • To help run exciting and stimulating activities to aid the pupils sensory skills and development.
  • To work alongside other support staff and assist with behaviour management where needed.
  • Building strong rapport with the pupils in your care to help them feel comfortable and relaxed.
  • To support pupils with personal care if required.
To qualify as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities is required to demonstrate your knowledge of how to support young people with special needs.
