We are delighted to be representing our busy and highly reputable client who is seeking to recruit a Bookkeeper Supervisor to join their friendly and established team in Uckfield.This is a new role in a fast expanding and dynamic business.The role is best suited to an individual passionate about providing clients with a service tailored to their needs, delivering information on past performance, working with them on forecasts and budgets and dealing with their VAT compliance.Reporting to the Book Keeper Manager, core responsibilities will be:Review bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT returnsReview year end packs for accounts and audit teamInput and review dataReview and maintain sales, purchase and general ledgersPost and review month end journalsAdhere to accounting standardsMeet deadlines and time budgetsAdvise managers of any outstanding issuesComplete and review VAT compliance including registration, de-registration, option to tax, VAT enquiries and investigationsMaintain a full and accurate audit trail by filing and referencing documentsLiaise with other departments, e.g. payroll, audit, accounts and taxTravel to and work from client sites if requiredPrepare and review management accounts from information and documentation received from clients, ensuring that all relevant deadlines are metComplete each assignment before passing to the manager for reviewDevelop and maintain good client relationshipsLiaise with clients directly or through relevant manager to resolve queriesEnsure a high level of service to meet client’s expectationsEnsure that all hours worked on assignments are correctly recordedTrain and guide and supervise team membersSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Essential AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA or Qualified by experience (at least 4 years experience)Ability to work as part of a team and independentlyNumerate and analytical with excellent written and verbal communication skillExtensive knowledge of VATEvidence of being a proactive, self-starter who can manage changing priorities in a demanding environmentIntermediate/advanced Excel, Xero, Sage 50This is a highly deadline-based role so, at times, flexibility on hours in peak times will be requiredFirst Recruitment Services is acting as an employment agency on behalf of this vacancy Required skills
