Job Description

South Tyneside HomesIndependent Board MemberNon-Executive Director - FinanceVoluntary Opportunity (expenses paid)Sellick Partnership are delighted to be partnering with South Tyneside Homes on an exclusive basis to recruit to a newly available Non-Executive Director post.South Tyneside Homes is an Arms Length Management Orgnisation (ALMO) of South Tyneside Council and are a fully council owned limited company. South Tyneside Homes manages estates and Council housing stock on behalf of South Tyneside Council.The organisation are governed by a board of 12 Non-Executive Directors made up of 3 distinct groups: four tenant/ leaseholder board members, four council nominated board members and four independent board members.The Non - Executive Director opportunity has arisen due to the current independent post holder retiring from post after serving their maximum term. This current opportunity/ person will sit as an independent board member and we are looking to fill the incumbentpost with an individual with strong financial skills and preferably an accounting qualification.Responsibilities:

  • Attend bi-monthly board meeting running for 2 hours per session.
  • Sit on and attend 1 of 3 committees which meet every quarter.
  • Attend strategic planning meeting each quarter with duration around 4 hours in- person.
  • Yearly appraisal with the opportunity to attend learning and development.
  • In depth reading of associated board papers prior to each meeting.
Who are we looking for:
  • Finance professional with a passion for the housing sector.
  • Holder of a finance qualification eg. CIMA, ACCA.
  • Experience is an executive level role but board level experience not required.
  • An individual with good insight into the challenges the sector faces from a regulatory, economic and environmental stand point.
  • The individual will be able to think strategically, challenge constructively, read and understand complex information and have a sound understanding of risk management.
