Job Description

The Company We are looking for trustworthy and proactive assistant manager with many years engineering experience and proven leadership skills. The successful candidate can expect to work on numerous projects at the same time, build and manage diverse teams of engineersfrom different disciplines, formulate and execute strategies, and coordinate with other managers.To be successful as the assistant manager, you should have exceptional foresight, great communication skills, working knowledge of different engineering disciplines and how they relate to one another, and an aptitude for managing risk. Ideally, candidateswill have proof of their supervisory and technical skills, and an appreciation for the complex nature of the industry.The Role

  • Ensure that all day-to-day operations run smoothly and operating to maximum efficiency and capability to meet business KPIs.
  • You will also be responsible for production performance, quality, cost control, continuous improvement and health and safety.
  • Will be responsible for updating and maintaining branch HSEQ records.
  • You will also play an active role in managing and coaching engineering staff.
  • Management of numerous small to medium projects at the same time.
  • Lead continuous improvement and lead operational change to deliver results.
  • Positively managing and ensuring adherence to best practice, legal, regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Planning and supervising the work of multiple teams both on and off site.
  • Sourcing suppliers, hiring contractors and building teams.
  • Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering teams.
  • Deputise for senior management over holidays.
  • Producing detailed condition reports and recommendations for customers Heat Exchange equipment.
  • Building good relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Attend customer sites to discuss and survey their requirements.
The Person
  • Qualified to minimum HNC level in mechanical engineering field or similar.
  • Previous experience in engineering/workshop/service industry is essential.
  • Must have strong IT skills and be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Project.
  • Excellent continuous improvement experience, able to manage change and improvements.
  • Sound knowledge of budgetary control, responsibility of finance and management of costs.
  • The ability to manage multiple teams, projects and priorities and able to implement and sustain continuous improvement values.
  • Logical problem solver with excellent fault-finding abilities.
  • QA/QC experience and NDT knowledge is preferable.
  • Good Welding knowledge or CSWIP 3.1 Certification will be advantageous.
  • Full clean driving licence.
