Job Description

We are very excited to be representing an award winning Retailer who are looking for a Marketing enthusiast to join their team near Bath.They are a small family run company who have been established since 2001. The company have been supplying and installing high quality garden buildings across the UK, manufactured in Holland, Germany, Belgium & Poland ever since.They have a number of selling sites such as online and display site to show case their buildings. Customers visit the display site from all over the country because of the quality of product and the company’s reputation as a leading player buildings world.They pride themselves on giving the customer a first class service, from design to installation. Buildings are all made to measure and many ranges are completely unique. The ability to provide unique & customisable buildings together with a professional in-house installation service / after sales service gives the company a significant competitive advantage in the market place.What are they looking forNow looking for the ideal candidate who lives and breathes Marketing aswell as being an all rounder. Someone who has business acrumen and understands the challenges of a small business.Our client is looking for a focus on marketing, product quality / unique products & customer satisfaction to give them an even more competitive edge in the marketplace.

  • Key Responsibilities Marketing
  • Identifying products that are out of date, or not selling and replacing with new products, working with the directors to market these products.
  • Product development ideas listening to what customers want and reporting to production
  • Deciding on advertising spend & placement - both above & below the line, and on-line advertising in directories & relevant websites
  • Looking for PR opportunities with local and national press / on-line
  • Keeping a database of customer photos, identifying customers who we need photos from, writing to customers for photos, chasing the install team for photos
  • Asking customers for on-line reviews, responding to on-line reviews / Inputting customer testimonials on to website
  • Producing marketing literature, brochures, signage, liaising with designers & printers
  • Writing press releases - identifying opportunities for PR
  • Sending out email mailshots / keeping a database of customers to send out emails to
  • Checking pricing structures / comparing with competitors
  • Video content - identifying areas for video, setting budgets, briefing
  • Calling marketing meetings to brief sales staff on new products / developments on the website

  • Content Management - Coming up with ideas for blogs & case studies, briefing our writer, disseminating website content on all social media platforms & by email. Including content for partner sites e.g Garden Room Guide, Shed Working etc
  • Updating pricing on web
  • Updating website galleries, photos & regularly updating & checking product info on the website
  • SEO - Webmaster tools, Google Analytics, checking Google compliance issues are complied with
  • Briefing web design & technical team at Gel Studios, working with them to develop the site
  • Keeping an eye on competitor websites and products, reporting to other Directors on new ideas / companies
  • Editing & keeping up to date feature blocks on website to cross promote products & direct customers to niche marketing content

  • Sales/ Customer Service

  • Selling / explaining product benefits both over the phone & in person

  • Processing orders
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding orders
  • Passing on technical enquiries to the Operations team
  • Covering for sales staff (dropping marketing role at this point) to concentrate on sales
  • Show site
  • Keeping an eye on the display site keeping it looking good as a marketing / sales tool
  • Arranging planting seasonally
  • Briefing a stylist to decorate new buildings
  • Checking regularly for wear & tear of buildings reporting on customer observations
  • Supervising cleaning of them, checking the buildings daily
  • Updating signage around the garden centre & signage on buildings
  • Arranging vehicle signage when required

  • Creative ideas person
  • A strong background / maybe even qualifications in marketing
  • MUST have an exceptional eye for detail, be a confident writer & and MUST be good at spelling !
  • Track record in website content management
  • Customer Service/ Sales skills
  • Be confident with customers & able to discuss their needs
  • Willing to learn how to design customer buildings or ask for help from designers when unsure
  • Willing to learn technical product information
