Job Description

Accountant - Tredegar Salary Circa £32,000 - £40,000 + Benefits (DOE)9-12 Month Fixed Term Contract - Maternity Cover An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Tredegar area for an experienced Accountant. Reporting into the Finance Manager on a day to day basis you will be required to support in the preparation of the monthly and annual accounts for the organisation.Ideally, my client is seeking an ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant, but they are also happy to consider those candidates that are working towards a professional accounting qualification or Qualified by Experience.The successful candidate will play a significant role in covering the day to day finance tasks and assist in supporting the Finance Manager with their workload. You will be able to work on your own initiative, whilst working as part of a friendly accountsteam based at their site in Tredegar.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate reporting, payment and audit of the company VAT
  • Reconciliation, reporting and audit of stock
  • Oversee the Assistant Accountant to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of cash and bank, inter-company, debtors, creditors, customer rebates and employee expenses
  • Monthly prepayments
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts
  • Weekly P&L forecast
  • Dealing finance queries
  • Preparation and review of the monthly management accounts
  • Preparing cost centre reports and attending monthly meetings with the cost centre owners
  • Month end reporting to include preparing the working capital, CAPEX and stock analysis
Person Specification:
  1. Experienced IT user, having worked with SAP previously would be highly advantageous
  2. Ability to work on your own initiative and as a part of a larger team
  3. Strong technical background having worked within a similar role previously
  4. Stock experience
  5. Strong Excel skills
  6. The ability to multi-task and assist with a variety of duties
The ideal candidate will possess strong Excel skills to intermediate level and be committed and dedicated to getting the job done. Previous exposure of working within a similar role would be highly beneficial. The role is working in a busy office environmenttherefore you must be able to prioritise your workload and ensure a high level of accuracy at all times. The suitable candidate will be pro-active in approach, enthusiastic and willing to help out.This organisation offers a friendly working environment and the opportunity for a hands-on role.
