Job Description

PMP have the opportunity for a select person to work as a Production Engineer. Working directly for the Operations Manager and within a multi-disciplinary team of design, engineers, scientists and technical experts, the Production engineer role will beresponsible for reviewing existing BOMS and SOPs, making production efficiency improvements and ensuring we have in place accurate records and working documents.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Support and assistProduction and R&D when needed
  • Assist with productivity improvements and general production issues across all sites
  • Lead change initiatives
  • Look for improvements to current production in order to speed up timings and deliveries
  • Review and sense check existing paperwork (BOMs, SOPs etc.) for errors, inaccuracy and inconsistencies
  • Where necessary, correct and re-write documentation and procedures and upload into MRP system
  • Create new product BOM costings
  • Write project supporting SOP documentation for new products
  • Provide production packs
  • Engage with production operatives on a day-to-day basis to understand and evaluate any potential production issues
  • Ability to train production operatives
  • Identify the need for and sourcing of new equipment
  • Site visits to customers and suppliers
  • Assist with data collection and interpretation
Experience & Skills
  • Ideally degree (or equivalent) qualified in production/mechanical / design
  • Experience with plastic and rubber moulding and metal
  • Knowledge of pull logistics (Kanban) and flow
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures
  • Ability to train production operatives
  • Creation and upkeep of BOMs
  • Able to accurately carry out costings
  • Ability to lead small change projects
  • Visual management of KPIs
  • Good computer skills, Excel and Word in particular: other MRP experience will be beneficial.
