Job Description

Aecus Recruitment are currently searching for an experienced maintenance lead for our client in Tipton. As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance function within the organization, under the direction of the ProductionManager. Your primary goal will be to provide a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance service for all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure. You will oversee maintenance activities, ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards,manage projects, and maintain effective communication with suppliers and internal customers. Additionally, you will be responsible for the training and performance management of your team.Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Schedule plant maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns, improve equipment performance and reliability, and minimize unplanned downtime.
  2. Plan and lead maintenance activities: Ensure that maintenance work meets building regulations and complies with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  3. Timely completion of planned work: Allocate planned work to the maintenance team and ensure it is completed within agreed time frames and to the departments high standards. Ensure proper documentation of work.
  4. Adhere to quality and environmental management systems: Follow the established Quality Management System and Environmental Management System in all maintenance activities.
  5. Supplier and internal customer communication: Liaise and communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers to coordinate maintenance activities and address any issues or concerns.
  6. Calibration and maintenance of systems: Oversee the routine calibration and maintenance requirements of various electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  7. Hands-on expertise: Provide hands-on mechanical and electrical expertise to support the maintenance of the site.
  8. Continuous improvement projects: Manage and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance maintenance processes and efficiency.
  9. Training and performance management: Identify individual training needs within the team and ensure proper training is provided. Manage the performance of the maintenance team members.
  10. Legal and safety compliance: Ensure adherence to all legal and safety requirements related to maintenance activities.
  11. Departmental housekeeping: Undertake departmental housekeeping tasks as required, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness (5C standard).
  12. Additional duties: Perform any other duties as reasonably required and commensurate with the role.
Knowledge & Competencies:
  1. Mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulic machines: Possess knowledge and understanding of these systems.
  2. Planned preventative maintenance scheduling: Familiarity with planning and implementing scheduled maintenance activities to prevent breakdowns and improve equipment reliability.
  3. Leadership and man-management skills: Ability to lead a maintenance team effectively and manage their performance.
  4. Problem-solving skills: Competent in identifying and resolving maintenance-related problems efficiently.
  5. Attention to detail and decision-making: High level of attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions.
  6. Organizational and interpersonal skills: Excellent organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Qualifications:Required:
  • Education: HND/BTEC qualification
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive experience in a maintenance department with a high level of technical competency.
  • Previous supervisory experience
Desirable:
  • Education: Engineering Degree, Electrical qualification
  • Experience: Knowledge of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001
