We currently have anopportunityfor DespatchManagerto join our team in Thetford.Reporting to our Head of Supply Chain the position will manage the whole Despatch Function & Team
  • This post is working Monday - Friday
  • The hours of work and shift patterns are: 08:00- 16:30
  • Salary £41500 + Benefits
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the main purpose of the Despatch Manager role is to fully manage the Despatch department and be fully accountable for both shifts ensuring that:
  • Despatch and Intake are fully supporting operations and in a timely manner.
  • Effective handovers take place between shifts, and information is passed to relevant Managers to ensure smooth continuity of day-to-day business, projects, information, driving culture change and associated behaviours.
Whilst being based in the main office, you’ll spend time each day engaging and talking with your teams on the floor for example holding briefings and toolbox talks.You’ll lead on site cost reduction projects relevant to Despatch and where needed present the project in an acceptable format to the Site Director or members of the SLT.You’ll communicate and work together with internal and external stakeholders and service providers to ensure they are updated with relevant information, that workload is balanced between teams and any issues are escalated appropriately.Compliance is an important part of the role and the Despatch Manager is responsible for ensuring that the site is legally and contractually compliant, audit ready and that GMP targets are achieved. You’ll promote hygiene and health and safety and take appropriateaction to remedy any un-safe working practices.Your team management skills will also be important as you’ll be responsible for all aspects of managing your teams performance and training as well as keeping them engaged, driving culture change and creating a team ethos.You’ll need to remain contactable to your department, which runs 24/7, This will include weekend periods when you may need to guide via phone if issues arise, whilst also coaching and training them to ensure that only issues they cannot solve are escalated.
  • Candidate will be a strong emerging leader with a good engaging personality to motivate and bring the teams together.
  • Proven experience of successfully managing a team including performance management, conduct, adherence to company policies & procedure including disciplinary, grievance & attendance issues
  • Ability to clearly communicate with multiple nationalities & build a strong & effective team.
  • Self-motivated and highly resilient
  • FMCG experience
  • Ideally experience of a demanding retail or similar customer base
Be able to use initiative to solve issues without guidance or supervision
